A factual look at the Dragon Ball TCG Fusion World SB-01 Manga Booster box: what's inside, rarity distribution, and common misconceptions about manga rare cards.
Quick Answer
The Dragon Ball TCG Fusion World SB-01 Manga Booster is a Japanese booster box with 110 card types plus 21 Energy Markers, featuring new illustrations by Akira Toriyama. It includes one Secret Rare and one Super Rare per box on average, but manga rare cards are not a separate rarity tier.
What the SB-01 Manga Booster Actually Contains
Each box holds 24 packs, with 6 cards and 1 code per pack. The set includes 110 unique cards plus 21 Energy Markers, with rarities ranging from Common to Secret Rare. The single Secret Rare per box is the highest confirmed rarity, not a separate 'manga rare' category.
The term 'manga rare' is a collector nickname for cards with manga-style art, but it is not an official rarity tier in this set. The official breakdown lists: 1 Secret Rare, 10 Super Rare, 25 Rare, 32 Uncommon, 37 Common, and 5 Leader cards per complete set.
Common Misconceptions About Manga Rare Cards
Some collectors assume that 'manga rare' cards are the most valuable or hardest to pull. In fact, the Secret Rare is the only confirmed 1-per-box card. Super Rare cards appear at a rate of 1 per box, but they are not guaranteed to be manga-style.
The newly drawn illustrations by Akira Toriyama appear across multiple rarities, not just the highest tier. A card's value depends on demand and art, not on whether it is called 'manga rare'.
Verdicts on Common Claims
- Claim: Manga rare cards are a separate rarity: False. The official set lists only Secret Rare, Super Rare, Rare, Uncommon, Common, and Leader. 'Manga rare' is a fan term for cards with manga-style art, not an official tier. When buying, look for Secret Rare or Super Rare if you want the highest confirmed rarity.
- Claim: Every box contains a manga rare card: Unconfirmed. The set guarantees 1 Secret Rare and 1 Super Rare per box, but no official source states that either is always manga-style. Pulls vary. Do not expect a manga-style card in every box. Focus on the official rarity list.
- Claim: New Toriyama illustrations are exclusive to high rarities: False. The newly drawn illustrations appear across multiple rarities, including Common and Uncommon, not just Secret Rare or Super Rare. Check the card list for specific art rather than assuming rarity equals new art.
